Telstra to Open Third Data Center in UK

The telecommunications provider Telstra International (www.telstra.com.au) announced Friday it has added several million, 10,000 square meter data center in Woking, United Kingdom, located just south of London.

The new data center, marking the third plant in the UK by Telstra, is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Telstra CEO David Thodey traveled to London to launch the new data Cetner which the company says it will support the “evolving data needs of enterprise customers in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.”

“The data centers worldwide International Telstra have connectivity to the global network of Telstra Next IP which means that multinational companies can benefit from a complete global solution,” said Thodey.

The new data center in the UK has been designed to support the development of infrastructure needs, such as customers and adapt their IT systems to optimize the technologies such as virtualization and software as a service.

Telstra offers a combination of first class facilities of accommodation, international and global connectivity to provide managed network solutions.

The company is well positioned to “maintain [its] growth in the market keeping the match and exceed [their] client needs,” said Thodey.

The facility will offer a wide range of managed hosting services, including intelligent storage management and remote hands.

In addition, Telstra will provide disaster recovery through resistant fiber optic cable and other sources of data center company in the UK at Cambridge and London.

This global network connectivity to the Telstra Next IP ensures that multinational companies have a complete global solution, with access to Telstra’s network and data centers in the Asia-Pacific and the Americas.
