The Metro Ethernet Forum (www.metroethernetforum.org), a nonprofit global industry alliance comprising more than 155 major service providers and network equipment vendors, Tata Communications has certified (www.tatacommunications.com ) Priority Ethernet services under the highly respected MEF 9 and MEF 14 specifications.
According to the announcement of the Indian telecommunications giant Thursday, Tata Priority Ethernet services achieved certification according to pass numerous tests conducted by Iometrix (www.iometrix.com), MEF-approved laboratory test certification. The Metro Ethernet Forum develops technical specifications and implementation agreements to ensure interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet services worldwide.
“Tata Communications has the distinction of being the first global provider to MEF 9 and won certification for its MEF14 global leader dedicated to Ethernet services, and now our priority services certification demonstrates our commitment to continuously enrich our offer, offer quality services to our customers and lead the evolution of Ethernet, “said Genius Wong, Senior Vice President, Global IP and VPN services.
The industry certification first to include performance criteria, MEF 14 ensures that latency, jitter and packet loss meets the rigorous standards of MEF, helping to raise the bar for the performance of transport. MEF 9 ensures the necessary conditions for the provision of services have specific user’s Ethernet network interface and Ethernet Virtual Connection Service Attributes.
Joel Stradling, a senior analyst business intelligence firm Current Analysis IT (www.currentanalysis.com), said the MEF Ethernet services priority “independently supports its Carrier Ethernet performance.” The global reach and MEF certifications differentiate new message Tata Communications in the international market and hopes that the operator is in a good position to increase its reach with more consistent and standardized Ethernet network to a network interface (E-NNIS), working within the guidelines MEF, “Stradling said in a statement.” E-NNIS are critical for Ethernet services, and to establish a common language to bridge boundaries between different companies. ”
The MEF 9 and MEF 14 certifications and certification complement Tata worldwide dedicated Ethernet Services, introduced in 2006 and certified since 2007.
