QualityTech Begins Major Atlanta Data Center Expansion

Data center operator Quality Technology Services (www.qualitytech.com) said Tuesday it has completed 130,000 square foot expansion of its data from Metro Center, located near downtown Atlanta.

The company will use funds from its recent 150 million U.S. dollars partnership growth with equity investors General Atlantic to fund expansion. QualityTech first developed the 990.000 square foot facility in October 2006, MetroNexus.

“Our partnership with General Atlantic QualityTech allowed to start the next step in our gradual accumulation of the Metro Atlanta Data Center facilities,” said Mark Waddington, President of QualityTech. “The addition of more than 130,000 square feet of raised floor space and supporting infrastructure positions this establishment as one of the largest and most technologically advanced in the world, data center facilities.

The company will add two large pods raised floor to the facility, which increased the ground footprint of 200,000 square meters.

This expansion will be completed 65 percent of planned capacity raised floor of the building, providing additional 330,000 square feet of raised floor customer-ready.

With the expansion of data center QualityTech says it is the adoption of environmentally sustainable design practices.

The design of the company, the generation of equipment will follow the philosophies and strategies for LEED certification, as indicated by the U.S. Green Building Council. QualityTech says it is also planning to get LEED certification for installation.

The data center expansion will include a Metro Laboratory Services for testing new energy conservation initiatives, such as air and water economizing technologies and new advances in energy distribution and consumer technology.

QualityTech also install advanced cooling and methods of delivery to the plant to ensure that customers will achieve higher levels of power density.

Besides the installation of downtown Atlanta, Georgia, its principal headquarters, QualityTech operates data centers in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Kansas, Indiana, Silicon Valley, California, for a total of over 2 million square feet of data center space.
