In separate announcements from Gartner ITxpo in Orlando, Fla., developer of cloud storage solutions ParaScale has been instrumental in the development of Zmanda’s (www.zmanda.com) Disk-to-Cloud (or D2C) solution for backup and of Moonwalk (www.moonwalkinc. com) integrated solution for managing storage, which transfers data rarely used expensive primary storage to a cloud economic ParaScale.
D2C Zmanda Backup
On Monday, the backup of open source software developer Zmanda Recovery released its D2C solution integrated backup, enabling companies to use cloud ParaScale to build a private storage and data center backup securely to it using Zmanda to replace more expensive alternatives such as tape or disk to disk backup.
“The integration of the solution Zmanda backup with cloud storage platform ParaScale means users can run their backup processes on commodity hardware to further existing relationships with suppliers and perfectly scaled to petabytes , no downtime “ParaScale CEO Sajai Krishnan said in a statement. “Zmanda is one of a growing list of partners in an ecosystem ParaScale we are developing to reduce total solution costs of storage-intensive applications by integrating value-added applications directly scalably affordable storage on our servers .
The combined solution also gives administrators the ability to assign different policies for each virtual filesystem ParaScale. Those containing data that should be kept more secure can be configured to replicate more copies. ParaScale software transparent copies of data to other parts of the cloud to ensure adequate number of existing copies.
The backup solution integrated ParaScale cloud based Zmanda is available immediately and can be downloaded from Zmanda ParaScale and websites. Customers can test the solution free combined with the ability to backup data 4TBs.
Moonwalk Stores secondary data in the cloud
Also announced Monday was for integrated information lifecycle management software provider Moonwalk storage management solution that allows organizations to download data with less access to primary storage to a cloud ParaScale face economic, providing a data management framework that reduces backup windows and reduce costs by reducing reliance on expensive primary storage.
“Moonwalk software integrates seamlessly with the cloud so ParaScale Moonwalk can be used to classify and move data based on attributes defined by the user completely transparent to the end user,” Moonwalk chief technology officer Michael Harvey said in a statement. “Once the data have been identified, schedules can be configured to automatically transfer files from primary storage to a virtual file system on the cloud ParaScale, giving administrators a clear and elegant mechanism to reduce its dependence on primary storage more expensive. ”
The direction of the Moonwalk ParaScale cloud based storage integrated in the solution can be downloaded from the website ParaScale. A free version allows companies to migrate up to 4 TB of data from primary storage to the cloud ParaScale.
