Hi I just wanted to let people on here understand my experience with these hosting companies northstorm.net and checkoutservers.com . First I will say I was lured in by one of there sales ladies told that I would have full support, help moving my current servers to the new I was going to buy with them, 24-7 support ect… ect…
All this and at a great price I mean the server I got from them was a really nice server for the price almost unbeatable. I will not say they don’t have great prices for the servers they offer because they do, however there service must be the worst service I have ever experienced. Let me start by saying they never moved over the servers like they promised only got part of the job done and it took weeks so mean while I was down for most this time and had to end up paying another month on one server to keep things alive and kept one of the other servers I was planing on moving over here to this new server as well because they in the end said they would not do it. So for being a bargain hunter that I am I ended up losing big here but that is just the beginning I never got full support like I said above worst service on the web in fact every time I had a problem I would get questions back instead of results and bad attitudes and then I would receive Bills at I think it was $65 an hour for the support that I was told would be part of the service I paid for in the first place.
I would have downtimes at times for 48 hours on the weekends they would do a server rebot and the sites would not come back up so I would message them and ask them why they would say give it a few minutes so I did 30 minutes later nothing so I messaged back didn’t get a response or get the issue fixed for approximately 48 hours I had this happen about twice a month usually they were shorter periods like 6 hours 8 hours once was like 15 and the most being 48 hours but they say they have a 99% uptime try about 85-90% at best
Anyways I was with them for about 6 months worst 6 months ever since I have been online in the early 90′s last month during Christmas break they messaged me that I had been hacked or something and to fix the problem or they would shut down the server so after months of not asking for anything in the form of support due to the fact that they would just tack on a hefty bill or extort me into paying outrageous extra services or get shut down I was pissed and told them that I think they need to offer me some help and give me some of that full support that I was promised before I joined them and if they where to busy to do it then to tell me how to do it and I would do there job for them. They didn’t like this and so they told me to move my sites to another server. it is Christmas and they are giving me 4 days to move my sites so my 2008 Christmas is pretty much ruined because now I have to dedicate my time finding a new host and researching them ect…
I did this and when I got a host that was ready to move my sites over I go on and find out they turned off my server before the month was up so now here it is day after Christmas and I just got my server turned off so I started fighting to find out how to get my server back I FOUND OUT THEY ARE ONLY RESELLERS so I went directly to the source Thank God I got my server back but a couple hours after I got my server back guess what They came on and deleted everything I am sure this was done by them all though I can not prove it with 100% certainty there were only 3 parties with the login info to do this ME I didn’t do it (MY NEW HOST) they assure me it wasn’t them, they would never do this and had no reason to I was a new client of theres and they knew the circumstances behind me needing this specific server and (MY OLD HOST northstorm.net and checkoutservers.com) who was at this time pretty pissed because I let the world know what they had done on webhosting talk forum.
So long story short I did not have backups to all my sites so I lost Years worth of work 1000′s worth of designs and scripts I had paid for and rather North Storm / Check Out Servers deleted the info or not in the end they are the reason for this happening that and me not backing up my sites, Which I have now learned my lesson need to do backups regularly I would recommend at least once a month . even though if you have a good host you should not need them this is the first time I have needed them in some 16 years online Thanks for the wake up call North Storm and the worst hosting experience I have ever experienced
I would not recommend them unless you need no support service and are ok with the server not reboting when you do rebots oh also well I was with them my websites on alexa said that 92% of sites loaded faster then mine some of these sites being static pages of about 80 kbs
The above may or may not be the experience that everyone has with this host. What I write above is not slander but my experience all true you can call this a review of northstorm.net/ and checkoutservers.com/ hosting services, not there prices but my experience with them. just a review like any other you may or may not find on sites like Webhostingtalk .
