LeaseWeb, Strengthens Green Hosting Initiative

by admin on January 19, 2009

Global business hosting services firm, LeaseWeb, has entered into a strategic partnership with HP, whose activities will include Green IT, and other endeavors which will cut back the energy usage in the hosting infrastructure.

Laurent Pacque, Business Unit Executive Industry Standard Servers, HP Nederland explained, ”LeaseWeb is a player in the hosting market and like HP wants to reduce power usage.

We are therefore awfully happy with this partnership, because partners like LeaseWeb are necessary for the success of HP and for making energy-efficient and environment-friendly hosting platforms. By viewing the IT platform from an environmentally conscious viewpoint, firms can rein in their power usage, and also realize more hardware per square meter. They therefore not only contribute to bettering the environment but also rein in their costs.”. Energy-efficiency in the info center is a key aspect for LeaseWeb and HP was selected partly due to this.

The company is among the top twenty hosting suppliers worldwide and provides services like website hosting, dedicated hosting, colocated hosting, VPS and streaming, and technical support. LeaseWeb owns a Cisco-powered network offering a bandwidth of over 210 Gbps, which extends across 5 info centers in the Amsterdam area thru the major telecom carriers.   LeaseWeb is also present on Internet exchanges in Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Frankfurt, New York, Vienna , Stockholm, Warsaw, Zurich, Prague and Madrid. Founded in 1997, hosting provider LeaseWeb now manages 11,000 servers. Its customers include Starbucks, Hyves, Telegraaf Media Groep, Koninklijke Joh. Ensched, PricewaterhouseCoopers, AVRO, Direct Wonen, and University.
