Fortune Data Centers Reaches Capacity, Expands

Wholesale supplier of data center space in data centers Fortune (www.fortunedatacenters.com) announced on Tuesday it had reached 100 percent of the power load capacity of Phase 1 of development in the six months of opening, and has begun work on Phase 2.

The company says that phase 2 is expected to add about 6 megawatts of critical load capacity of the plant in San Jose, which, when completed, will occupy over 140,000 square feet.

Website of Fortune magazine describes the installation as “the most technically advanced, energy efficient, high density data center in the Bay Area.

“Despite a difficult economic climate, demand for data center space remains a bright spot,” says Fortune Data Centers CEO John Sheputis, quoted in the press release from the company. “To have a facility of this size fully leased in such a short period of time to confirm the strength of the market in Silicon Valley. And we have a strong team with major suppliers and partners who helped make this happen.”

Fortune said that the Phase 1 data center offers greater energy efficiency, according to the power use efficiency measure developed by The Green Grid. Through independent testing, says the company, Phase 1 of the PUE data center achieved a score of 1.37 at full load. PUE describes the amount of energy facilities that is used to power computer equipment, with a grade of “perfect” to be 1.0. According to Fortune, 1.37 for the installation exceeds the industry average score of 2.0 and 2011 EPA destination for enterprise data centers 1.45.

“We have participated in several PG & E, efficiency programs and have been very happy with the results. We have exceeded our projections for EuP Phase 1 and expected to deliver an even better EuP Phase 2 by leveraging and promoting many of efficiency measures used in the first phase, “says Sheputis. “We are currently defining the technical program for Phase 2 and will include the state of the art efficiency measures for redundancy of services and the energy density. We are confident that increasing the capacity of the facility not only reduce tenant operating costs, but our expansion should result in reduced energy costs for our tenants. ”

In August, the buzz reported on a $ 900,000 incentive Fortune received from Pacific Gas and Electric, the utility company in California, in recognition of their efforts to implement the energy efficient design.
