CSC Opens Data Center in Western NY

Business technology solutions and services provider CSC (www.csc.com) announced on Tuesday it held an open house on Thursday to mark the opening of its new data center in East Greenbush, New York.

The announcement comes on the heels of the recent acquisition of BearingPoint operation in Brazil.

128,000 square feet of data center at 327 Columbia Turnpike adds 65 new jobs for existing workforce at the site of 250 employees working in the CSC offices at 329 and 311 Columbia Turnpike.

The installation of data 30 million U.S. dollars was built by Albany-based BBL Construction Services, which rents space from Upstate Construction of Troy.

The data center will take into account the needs of many public and private projects in the state of New York, including two state Medicaid programs and Medicare Part D prescription.

The plant consists of two mainframe computers, 600 servers built with the capacity to handle two billion instructions per second.

CSC has approximately 92,000 employees worldwide and earned $ 16.2 billion in revenue for the year ending July 2009
