Attenda Limited announced today that it has officially become the newest member of the PCI Security Standards Council as a new participating organization. As a participating organization, Attenda will work with the Council to evolve the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) and other payment card data protection standards.

The PCI DSS, endorsed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc., requires merchants and service providers that store, process or transmit data from payment card customers to adhere to the security controls of information and processes that ensure data integrity. More information about the Council and the standard can be found at www.pcisecuritystandards.org

As a participating organization, Attenda will have access to the latest security standards payment card by the Council, be able to provide information on the standards and become part of a growing community that now includes over 500 organizations. In an era of increasingly sophisticated attacks on systems, adhering to the PCI DSS represents an entity better protection against data criminals. By joining as a Participating Organization, Attenda adds its voice in the process.

“The PCI Security Standards Council is committed to helping everyone involved in the payment chain protect your payment information for consumers,” said Bob Russo, general manager, PCI Security Standards Council. “By participating in the process of setting standards, Attenda shows that are playing an active role in this important end goal.

Commenting on its membership to the PCI Security Standards Council, Simon Hansford, vice president of Strategy and Marketing Services, says “We are delighted to have been designed to work with Council to develop security standards PCI DSS and card security data.

Hansford continues, “Implementation of PCI DSS can help organizations reduce the costs of long-term compliance, instilling best practices across the enterprise, making it easier and less costly to adhere to new requirements and to create a more agile organization more efficient. “
